| District Two School Board Names New Middle School | 6/30/2008 |

The District Two School Board of Trustees convened in regular monthly session on June 10 with all trustees and Superintendent Dr. Scott Mercer in attendance. After opening ceremonies and prior to regular business, the board recognized the Boiling Springs High School baseball team’s accomplishment in winning the state 4A championship. Members of the team passed out team - autographed baseballs and commemorative tee shirts to all trustees.

| Blacksburg implements ordinance for new rollout carts | 6/19/2008 |

As you drive through Blacksburg the town’s new burgundy and black rollout trash cans are hard to miss. Many residents have had them in front of their houses since they were distributed a few weeks ago, but town officials are hoping to change that.
While the town purchased the rollout carts to make curbside trash pickup easier, town council members have now passed an ordinance to regulate their use.

| Downtown history mural finally finished | 6/12/2008 |

As lovers of history, it makes sense that the members of the Blacksburg High School History Club would want to leave a little history of their own. Since the group was formed during the 2006-2007 school year, they have talked about having a historical mural painted in Blacksburg’s downtown area.
After more than a year of fundraising and hard work, their dream has finally become a reality.
