Spring Fling brings
smiles, laughter, food and fun

The streets of downtown Spartanburg were packed with festival-goers all weekend long as the annual Spring Fling pulled in young and old alike to the huge street festival.

Johnice Wofford of Moore was found walking along Church Street with her husband and two children. She recalled attending Spring Fling when she was a child. She said, “It's been wonderful. It's so family - friendly.”

Colonel Gregory W. Batts, Deputy Commander for the South Carolina Army National Guard contingent that is now returning from a deployment to Afghanistan spoke to Wofford College ROTC cadets and a few others at a Symposium on Citizenship and Leadership on Thursday, April 24 in Leonard Auditorium.

The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, may be half the size of the original but it packs just as big an emotional punch.

Thousands of area residents lined the highways Tuesday as the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall passed through several small towns on its way to USC-Upstate. Escorted by several hundred motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard and Rolling Thunder, the truck bearing the half scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall received an enthusiastic welcome from residents lining both sides of the highway.

Pacolet’s new Chief of Police Robert Ivey was sworn in following the Pacolet Town Council Meeting on Thursday, April 3 at the Town Hall. Following his swearing - in, he headed a Crime Watch Meeting at the Town Hall.
