The Lady Cavaliers defeated the Easley Green Wave 11-0 in the opening round of the 4A girls soccer playoffs Monday night.
Playoffs got underway for area soccer teams on Monday night, and one local tennis team was still alive early in the week.
The Dorman tennis team was to host Blythewood on Tuesday afternoon. The winner will earn the right to move on to the Upper State and State tournament this weekend at Sumter.
In the soccer playoffs, area girls’ teams got their title campaigns started on Monday night.
Dorman, a #2 seed in the 4A playoffs, made quick work of Easley, rolling over the Green Wave 11-0 in their playoff opener.
Dorman scored four goals in less than seven minutes in the first half to lead 4-0 at the break. Madison ARms, Jade Bernardi, and Becca Miller all scored during the outburst.
Arms ended up with three goals in the game, Katie Armstrong and Jessica Napoli added a pair each, and Daisy Walker had a goal and an assist.
Easley was held without a shot on goal.
Dorman will advance to take on Spring Valley on Wednesday.
At Woodruff, the Lady Wolverines, the top seed in the 2A playoffs, had no trouble with Ware Shoals, winning 10-0.
Paige Sumner set the tone, scoring just 30 seconds into the game. Meagan Moss, Casey Black, and Megan Robertson combined for four goals in the first half, and sisters Alyssa and Caroline Tebault also scored.
Black, Fowler, and Chelsea Reynolds had goals in the second half.
Woodruff will host Andrew Jackson on Wednesday.
Spartanburg was also a first-round winner, beating Wren 2-1 in double overtime. Ellis Bagwell scored the winning goal with a minute and a half remaining in the second extra frame. Grace Lancaster provided Spartanburg’s other goal.
The Lady Vikings will visit Clover on Wednesday.
Chapman bowed out of the playoffs with an 8-0 loss to Chapin, Broome fell to Greenville Tech Charter 2-1, and Southside Christian defeated Landrum 2-0.
In boys’ playoff soccer action, all games were ste to begin Tuesday. Landrum was to take on Ware Shoals in the Cardinals first-ever home playoff match, the winner will travel to Southside Christian on Thursday.
Broome was to host Newberry on Tuesday, with the winner traveling to Emerald or hosting Palmetto.
In the 4A bracket, Boiling Springs was to take on Easley, and Dorman was to host Greenwood.
