Greer mayor will
seek re-election

Greer Mayor Rick Danner will announce his bid next week for a third consecutive term in office.

Danner invites the public to drop in during a meet and greet where he will announce his campaign.  The drop in will be held Monday, July 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 502 Hampton Rd., near Wal-Mart.

Filing for city elections begins at noon on Monday, July 16 and will end at noon Thursday, August 16.

The election will fill the offices of mayor city council districts one, threee and five, and a Commission of Public Works commissioner.  
Incumbent city council members and CPW Commissioner Gene Gibson have yet to announce re-election intentions.

Council representatives are elected from their respective districts.  The mayor and CPW Commissioner are elected at large.

In order to make the ballot candidates must only pay a filing fee. The filing fee for council candidacy and CPW is $70.  The filing fee to run for mayor is $125.

Presently only one other candidate, Charlie Lindsey, has announced intention to run for Mayor.

The Mayor’s position is a four-year term elected at large in the city.  The filing fee to run for mayor is $125.

The CPW commissioner seat is a six-year term elected at large.  The filing fee is $70.

Filing for elections will end at noon August 16.
