Students at Inman Elementary School completed a month-of-March-long program entitled âHelp Kiss Cancer Goodbyeâ, on Friday, 25th April. At this time, Principal Beth Young and Assistant Principal Cheryl Mallant literally kissed a pig. During March, students brought piggy banks from home, which were installed in all grade levels and the principalâs office to receive coins to determine the winner of the contest (the bank with the most money), who would then have to kiss a pig on stage. The piggy bank in the principalâs office was overwhelmingly the winner. This was obviously a win-win-win situation, as more than $400.00 was raised and donated to the March of Dimes and the Relay For Life.
Jimmy Anderson, husband of IES Cafeteria Manager Martha Anderson, secured the pig, and returned it to the L. L. Hyder Farm of Landrum/Gowensville. The pig, nicknamed âWilburâ, obviously enjoyed being the center of attraction for the student body, faculty, and staff.
Matthew Spears of Mrs. Jeterâs third grade had a front row seat and was obviously âintoâ the activities . He spoke for the student body in reporting, âThis is going to be cool!â He was right! |
