Forty members of the Foothills Thunder Motorcycle Club met on Monday, 5 May, at 7:00 pm in Inman City Hall. Focus of this meeting was to present a check for the proceeds of a club sponsored âRide For Chelseyâ to raise money for offsetting medical expenses for Chelsey Mitchell.
Chelsey, a popular Chapman High School cheerleader incurred life-threatening and coma-inducing injuries in an Oct 2007 auto accident, which claimed the life of younger sister Carlyn. This ride, involving all motorcycles of the sponsoring Foothills Thunder Club and more than 200 motorcycles of area friends and supporters of the Mitchell family, was a 2 and 1â2 hour ride from Chapman High School to North Greenville College and return to CHS. Money was raised through donations, lots of support, and many volunteers from the Inman area. Sponsor donors ($100 or more) were listed on the back of âRide For Chelseyâ t-shirts. Club President (and Inman Police Chief) Glenn Henderson reported additional sponsors donated after the first t-shirt printing. Henderson was quite pleasantly surprised and very appreciative of the efforts of all who contributed to this significantly worthwhile cause. He reported an initial goal of $15,000, but rejoiced, on behalf of the club and community, at total proceeds of $45.445.90, which was presented to parents Bill and Missy Mitchell, who graciously and appreciatively accepted this community outpouring of love and consideration. They expressed hope for the possibility of getting Chelsey into a world-renowned medical facility in the near future, if the issue of transportation in her current condition can be resolved. Other officers of the Foothills Club include: Randy Babb, Vice-President, Patti Babb, Secretary, and Robin Henderson, Treasurer.
