Cherokee County sheriff’s investigators and North Carolina authorities continued working the case this week of stolen vehicles being stripped for parts and abandoned near the state line.
Two teenagers are accused of being caught in the act, after deputies found evidence in a wooded area near Exit 106 off I-85.
Deputies said two teenagers, driving separate vehicles, pulled in where the deputies had discovered two stripped down cars and immediately sped away after observing law enforcement on the scene.
According to reports, the teenagers’ cars crashed after the deputies gave chase.
One of the vehicles that crashed was stolen, authorities said, in limited information that had been released.
