Peach Festival serves up bountiful harvest of fun

BY JANET S. SPENCER
HOMETOWN NEWS
Peaches are in season, and the S.C. Festival saluting the summer fruit is just around the corner.
Jacqueline Rodriguez said she’s ready.
She likes peaches but finds working at a produce stand makes them a little too accessible for soothing her palate.
“I love ‘em, but maybe I’m around them too much now,” she said on her job at Jamie Ham’s produce stand in Blacksburg off I-85 in the corner of the Flying J/Pilot trucking center lot.
Everything peachy will be on the menu and for snacking when the festival kicks off next week.
“On behalf of the South Carolina Peach Festival Board of Governors, it is or pleasure to extend a warm southern welcome to our event,” said a festival spokesman.

For the rest of the story, read this week’s Blacksburg Times.
