Peach Festival blooms in Gaffney

BY JANET S. SPENCER
HOMETOWN NEWS
The South Carolina Peach Festival continues, filling this weekend with fun and festivities in the traditional style of the last two decades with some new twists, including Legos construction, and the July 23 return of a mud bog.
Kayla Robbs, executive director of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce said, “This year’s S.C. Peach Festival held in Gaffney promises to be one of the most exciting festivals in recent memory.”
The festival kicked off Thursday on the lawn of the Chamber of Commerce where a live radio remote broadcast by WZZQ, music, food and a peach dessert contest attracted a crowd. The day’s events concluded with a successful New Talent Night held in Fullerton Auditorium on the campus of Limestone College.
Friday will offer a golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. at the Gaffney Country Club before Family Fun Fest begins at 5 p.m. in downtown Gaffney.
Food vendors, carnival rides and live music will be presented with arts, crafts and specialty vendors located in the First Baptist Church Life Center. Commercial vendors will be on the lawn across the street at City Hall.
