Rodeo rides into town

Young cowboy ‘hungry for more bull’

BY JANET S. SPENCER
HOMETOWN NEWS
Why do cowboys ride or rope for the money?
For 19-year-old Andy Blanton of Gaffney, the answer is the adrenaline rush he described as an eccentric feeling.
“It just leaves you hungry for more bull,” he said, adding that he’s scheduled to ride Friday night at Ed Brown’s Rodeo, after recently winning two events as he travels in hopes of making the pro-rodeo circuit. He also finished eleventh in national junior finals.
Andy is familiar with the livestock set to appear at Ed Brown’s 43rd Annual Championship Rodeo through a contract with Ken Treadway Rodeo LLC of Laurens.
Wolverine, owned by Treadway, has issued the 8-second challenge as Treadway brings the beast described as a lot of bull even for experienced cowboys and certainly for any trying to make their first go-round.
