Only one thing would have made Hippie Night in Blacksburg better last year.
Organizer and promoter Darren Janesky decided an additional day of saluting the 1960s was in order, based on popular demand, so for the fifth annual event, he extended the night to a weekend of celebration.
This Friday and Saturday will be devoted to all that’s groovy, tie-dyed, beaded, floral and highlighted by peace signs in a mini-Woodstock atmosphere that will take place rain or shine with music and tripping on the memories.
“There are a lot of festivals in the summer. Where we are, not a lot of people choose to do a Woodstock celebration. I think the uniqueness will again draw a large crowd,” Janesky said.
His reasoning: Those attending previously have asked for more.
