Blacksburg High takes first season-opener in 5 years

The final score accurately summed up last Friday’s effort when the Blacksburg High Wildcats racked up 33 points and physically limited the McBee Panthers to only a touchdown, but the tone of voice used by Coach Mickey Moss on Tuesday said even more.
Last week, before his team’s opening road game with McBee, preceded seven days earlier by a not so stellar performance in a Lexington jamboree, Moss had challenged his Blacksburg squad to show him how much they love the game.
His ultimatum was to stop wasting their time, if they didn’t have the game at heart.
Their decision was what most coaches want to hear and defined by Friday night’s performance, giving Moss reason to remain optimistic about the team and offer a smile as he mentally reviewed their effort.
