Blacksburg has remained unrepre-sented on the Cherokee County Council since August, when James Batchler, its voice for 43 years, died.
That will change, though, as early as Monday, when the Council’s newest member is sworn-in.
Tracy McDaniel will be that newest member after winning Tuesday’s District 7 election. The Republican solidly defeated his opponent, Democrat Thomas Moss, with 61 percent of the votes. McDaniel took 639 votes, compared to Moss’s 404.
