Business Association Commends Fire Department
David Stephens, Hometown News

To open the meeting President Brady spoke of the less - than - flattering comments that had been made recently in a local newspaper regarding the Boiling Springs site and its material condition. Brady said that the comments had been published without the writer even going to check the site out for himself and that the condition was nowhere near what had been portrayed. Brady then commended the Boiling Springs Fire Department for a tremendous amount of work that they had done to bring the Springs site back up to an outstanding level and that they had also replaced some broken benches. He said, “We have a great fire department and they can always be counted on to pitch in and help out whenever they are asked. We are fortunate to have this group in our community.”
Brady then informed members that the Business Association had recently donated $200.00 to the Upstate Family Resource Center for their “Windows of Opportunity” project. He also complimented the Resource Center staff for their continuing work in the community.
Brady next presented the ad layout for the business directory to be published in October and before the annual Thanksgiving banquet. Sponsor ads are currently being sold for the directory and the banquet. The business - to - business referral program was also emphasized and members were encouraged to use the program to generate business in Boiling Springs.
Next, a wording revision to the association by-laws was introduced and after discussion was approved by membership present.
Nick Ray of the Boiling Springs Fire Department then informed members of a need for donations to purchase and maintain equipment needed to access wooded areas and other places that a $400,000.00 fire truck cannot go. Contact the fire department for more information.
President Brady then presented information about the Renaissance Program at Boiling Springs High School that is used to recognize outstanding students for which business sponsors are needed.
Also, two political candidates, Mike Gardner and Eric Hayler were present at the meeting and made themselves available to the public for questions.
President Brady informed members that the next meeting on August 14 would be their annual picnic with hot dogs, hamburgers, and other food available. Members and families are encouraged to attend. With no further business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
