When Boiling Springs High School Principal Chuck Gordon arrived at the school at 6 a.m. on Oct. 7 he was the first to discover the vandalism that had occurred at the school overnight.
Gordon said, “I got there early just like every morning and it was still dark. When I walked up to the school past the Bulldog statue I noticed something was different, a different light shining off the Bulldog. I took a closer look and found it painted blue and white and other things painted on the sidewalk in blue paint. I was really shocked and disappointed.”
School Resource Officer Deputy Todd Waddell quickly responded to the scene and began an investigation. His police report states, in part, “The Bulldog had been painted light blue and white with an oil-based paint. On the left hand side of the granite blocks ‘DHS 2012’ was painted in white paint. Behind the Bulldog on the sidewalk was painted a ‘U’ in white paint. In front ‘Seniors 2012’ was painted in very large letters along with the words ‘We own U.’”
Gordon and Waddell noted that both surveillance tape and still photos exist of the incident and will be studied for evidence.
