Chesnee Police Chief Scott Smith has announced his resignation from the Chesnee Police Department to be effective Friday, February 11, 2011. On February 3, 2011, Mayor Max Cash convened the city council with all members present, in special session to consider that resignation. After a brief 18 minute executive session council came back into public session and announced that Chief Smith’s resignation was accepted and by unanimous vote appointed current Chesnee Police Sergeant Kip Teal as interim Chief. Council then adjourned without further comment.
