In celebration of Southwest Air’s beginning service on Sunday March 13 company employees and City of Spartanburg employees and residents joined forces to plant 25 trees in Barnet Park in downtown Spartanburg.

Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Cordeau said the trees are a symbol of the partnership between Southwest Air and Spartanburg.

He likened the roots of the trees to Spartanburg and the branches of the trees, reaching for the skies, to Southwest Air.
Cordeau said Southwest Air would help Spartanburg grow, adding, “We were made for each other.”
