Chesnee Council reviews Sewer Plant improvements

By David Stephens
Hometown News
Chesnee Mayor Max Cash convened city council in session on April 11 with all council members present.
In the workshop preceding regular session a representative from Mossburg Signs presented some ideas for new City of Chesnee and Welcome to Chesnee signs to councils. The council made no final decision and took the matter for further study and consideration.
In regular session the minutes from March were approved. City Administrator Becki Hood then advised that March revenues, as usual, had been down and expenditures up slightly. Hood said that funds from the municipal association were expected to come in the near future. Hood also stated that hospitality tax revenue was down slightly. Hood reminded council members of upcoming budget workshop dates.
In new business, Councilman Doug Pye discussed a Chesnee business that he classified as a junkyard and asked about the requirement for them to have a fence around the business. Mayor Cash said he did not know if the business in question was officially classified a junkyard by the county or not. The matter was tabled to allow time for more information to be gathered on the subject. Councilman Pye also brought up the matter of a Chesnee resident running a business from his home and whether or not he required a business license. Interim Police Chief Kip Teal was assigned to further investigate the matter and liaison with the individual involved.
