Crystal Weathers teaches Language Arts and Science at Chapman Elementary School in Spartanburg. One day about seven years ago she stumbled upon the organization DonorsChoose.org while watching The Oprah Winfrey Show.
She recalled saying, “Oh my gosh! That would be a great way to get things (for the students).”
That’s certainly proved to be the case as Weathers and her students have seen DonorsChoose.org fund 35 projects totaling more than $10,000 since she first applied in 2004.
DonorsChoose.org. is a nonprofit website where public school teachers describe specific educational projects for their students, and donors can choose the projects they want to support.
