Several more driving under the influence arrests were made by the officers of the Chesnee Police Department during the month of July as they continue their campaign to get drunk drivers off the streets.
On July 12 Sergeant Kip Teal observed a vehicle swerving across traffic lanes. During the stop Sergeant Teal detected a strong odor of alcohol from the driver, Dustin Shane Branum, 25, of 307 N. Virginia Avenue, Chesnee. The suspect stated that he had been drinking. Branum was administered several field sobriety tests which he failed. He was arrested and transported to the Police Department where he registered a .09 percent on a blood alcohol content test. He was charged with driving under the influence and transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
