The Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputy accused of assaulting a man in his custody resigned last week, according to the sheriff’s office.
Clayton Bradley voluntarily resigned early last week, according to sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Tony Ivey. Ivey said that the SLED investigation into the allegations against Bradley was still open and that the sheriff had not been notified as yet of any findings.
Bradley was accused of assaulting Collier Bruce Simmons, a 21-year-old Enoree man arrested for public disorderly conduct, while Simmons was in custody July 22.
