Local author uses area settings in her e-books

Hometown News

Melissa Turner Lee grew up in the Cooley Springs suburb of Chesnee and attended school in District Two, graduating from Chesnee High School in 1994. Lee later earned a degree in journalism and marketing from what was then USC Spartanburg (now Upstate). Lee married, worked temporary assignments for a while, had children and was a stay at home mom.
Then Lee began work on her first book, The Difference Between Night and Day, which is a Christian supernatural romance tale which has been available on Amazon since July 2011. Joining that book soon after in August 2011 was The Earth Painter, also in the supernatural romance genre.
Lee said what she likes about writing is, “It always takes me somewhere interesting and new. Being home with the kids gives me time to stew over ideas like The Earth Painter, which came to me one day while I was putting away laundry. I am of the Christian faith and I believe there is more out there over the hill and I like exploring that.
“Using local places and writing about Chesnee was fun and added authenticity to my story. I am a character writer and write the story through strong characters so I think even those not familiar with Chesnee will find it entertaining. Making characters and putting them on paper is my favorite part of the whole process.”

For the rest of the story, read this week’s Chesnee Tribune.
