HOMETOWN NEWS
A Campobello log cabin manufacturer has been chosen to build a home for the wildly popular ABC television program, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” for its 9th season to be aired this fall.
Blue Ridge Log Cabins is the leading manufacturer of modular log homes and will build 90 percent of the home going to a needy family in Fayetteville, N.C. It is the first log home to be featured on the show that averages 10 million viewers every Sunday night.
“This is an exciting day for the community, the state and Blue Ridge Log Cabins,” said company president Chip Smith during a press conference last Wednesday. “Buildings on this show represent the best of the best.”
The show currently airs on Sunday night at 9 p.m. but will move to Fridays at 8 p.m. with the start of the ninth season. Every episode starts with team leader/carpenter Ty Pennington’s “wake up” call via bullhorn announcing the project that will transform the lives of a family in need.
The identity of the Fayetteville family selected for the Blue Ridge Log Cabins project won’t be announced until July 14 when Pennington does the wake-up call. From that point the army of builders and volunteers have just 106 hours to complete the build before handing over the interior finishing and design work to Pennington and his design team.
Senior producer Milan Vasic said during a rally for Blue Ridge Log Cabin employees and their families Friday that the show embodies many of the principles of volunteerism and helping neighbors that America was founded on.
