Collision claims life

By Jay King
HOMETOWN NEWS
Tragedy has again visited a Wellford family already visited by loss after a head-on collision claimed the life of Byrnes High Senior Aaron Shawn Hill last Thursday along the same stretch of road honoring the father he lost to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2008.
Hill was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:53 a.m. April 7, according to Spartanburg County Coroner’s investigator Dwayne Corn. The accident happened near the intersection of Fort Prince Boulevard (Hwy 129) and Fairhill Drive just before 8 a.m., Corn said in a statement to the media.
Hill’s father, Army Sgt. Shawn Hill, died in 2008 after the vehicle he was traveling in struck a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The collision that took the life of the former Byrnes football player took place on the same stretch of road renamed in 2008 to honor his father.
