Leon G. Russ, Hometown News Duncan Murder, Arson Suspect Arrested in NC
A Duncan arson and murder set Arthur Duval Mims, 45, on a 145-mile flight from police Tuesday morning.
According to a statement released by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at 823 Terrace Creek Drive in Duncan at 3:18 a.m. Upon arrival deputies found that a female victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, had been run from the incident location to a neighbor’s home to ask for help. The neighbor called 911 to report the incident. Deputies entered the home in search of any additional victims and noticed smoke coming from an area near an upstairs bedroom. Inside the bedroom they found an additional victim that was deceased. The Reidville Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The suspect, Arthur Deval Mims, 45 years old, had fled the scene in a white in color Ford F-150 pick-up truck prior to the arrival of Deputies.
The juvenile victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit have obtained arrest warrants for Mr. Mims on one count each of Murder, Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill and Arson.
