Fire chief Frost witnesses accident

Duncan Fire Chief Barry Frost witnessed something last Wednesday he says he hopes he never sees again when he saw a woman struck by a train passing through downtown.
Frost said he was coming from the town’s water park and was stopped directly across from where train tracks intersect Main Street and observed a woman walking along those tracks hit by a train and thrown about 30 feet through the air.
“She never looked up,” he said. “I’ve never in my life seen anything like it.”
The chief estimated that the woman was tossed to about the same height as the train, which he said the conductor later told him was traveling at about 40 miles per hour.
“Watching it on TV isn’t the same as seeing it with your own eyes,” Frost added. ‘I was the one who saw it. I was the one calling for help. It’s usually us answering the call for help.”
