Citizens question education funding at town hall meeting

By Leon G. Russ
HOMETOWN NEWS
Local state house representatives held a series of town hall meetings around the county last week within each district except for District 35.
Each meeting saw that district’s representative joined by other local representatives as they explained what was accomplished in the last session at the state house and held a question and answer session.
First term House District 33 Representative Eddie Tallon held his town hall meeting at School District 3’s new auditorium on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
House District 36 representative Rita Allison, House District 37 representative Steve Parker, House District 38 representative Doug Brannon, and House District 32 representative Derham Cole joined him at the town hall meeting.
Tallon began by thanking those in attendance for electing him and quipping, “I’m the oldest freshman in the house.”
In a nod to his colleagues he said, “It’s great to be a part of this team serving Spartanburg.”
House District 34 representative Mike Forester was absent because it was his son’s birthday. House District 31 representative Harold Mitchell was not in attendance nor was House District 35 representative Bill Chumley.
Tallon and his fellow representatives then rolled through a presentation of what they accomplished in the house.
He noted the following were passed into law, on the record voting, Voter ID, Tort Reform, Point of Sale Revisions and Illegal immigration reform.

For the rest of the story, read this week’s Middle Tyger Times.
