Chris Guy has resigned as Wellford’s police chief, citing differences in management approach with Mayor Tommy Watson and saying it was time for him to seek other opportunities.
The move took effect Aug. 29, and Guy said he continues to have the highest regard for the people of Wellford and thanked them for their support during his years of service.
A Boiling Springs native, Guy started with Wellford in 2000 and became chief almost four years ago. He was widely popular among Wellford’s citizens, mostly for his open and approachable manner.
“It was an honor to be trusted by the people of Wellford to such an extent that I knew if I got into trouble, they would be there to help,” Guy said.
