New positions to go to delinquent tax, records management offices

Spartanburg County council voted Monday to add six positions to the county’s delinquent tax and records management offices to replace five temporary contract workers who have been employed in those offices for five years.
Assistant County Administrator Jim Hipp explained that adding the positions would only increase the county’s general fund expenditures by about $15,000 over the roughly $181,000 currently being spent on the five temporary contract workers.
Hipp said four of the employees would go to the Delinquent Tax Office with the remaining two positions going to Records Management. One of the Delinquent Tax positions would be for the interim director. The new positions would bring the delinquent Tax Office up to a staff of 10 while the Records Management Office would increase to eight.
