This has been a season of highs and lows for the Byrnes football team.
In their two wins entering last Friday’s game at T.L. Hanna, the Rebels had outscored the competition 124-2. In their losses, both at home, the Rebels were held to 17 points per contest.
That trend continued against T.L. Hanna, with Byrnes scoring another dominating win, 63-6.
“The kids responded well to the loss the week before,” coach Chris Miller said. “We had a great week of practice and worked things out on the field. I wanted us to get back to having fun again.”
Byrnes struck first, with Shuler Bentley hooking up with Colton Korn on an 18-yard pass. Kaleb Patterson added the extra point to make the score 7-0.
T.L. Hanna responded with a 39-yard touchdown pass from Brent Kinley to Ishmell Williams. Jamaal Johnson blocked the extra point, allowing Byrnes to maintain a one-point lead.
