Mapping Out the School Year

Secretary, Jennifer Hicks, and bookkeeper, Gwen Clark, discuss students’ permanent records.
This summer the Whitmire Community School held registration from 8:00 - 1:00 and 2:30 - 8:00 on August 2 and August 3. On those days, administrators and staff made sure people found out about the teacher or teachers the approximately 505 students would have for the 2010-2011 school year.
In order to save money during these tight budget times Principal Joey Haney said, “Registration packets were not mailed out this year. Instead, folks could pick them up at Roche’s Pharmacy, the Piggly Wiggly, First Citizens Bank, and the Whitmire Memorial Library. “
The registration packets contained a good deal of paperwork, so some parents, guardians or grand parents went into the school cafeteria to fill out the required forms. Others had filled the forms out ahead of time, so they just went to the assigned lines and finished registering.
