Newberry County Sheriff’s Office transitions to Nixle Notification Service

By Kevin Boozer
Contributing Writer

Chief Sinclair notifies Whitmire News Contributing Writer Kevin Boozer using Nixle.

On Friday, August 13, 2010 Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster announced that the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office will begin using Nixle to send out updates to citizens instead of the current email notification system.  A service some Whitmire residents may already familiar with since Police Chief Jeremiah Sinclair started using it long before the Sheriff’s Office did, Nixle is a web-based service that anyone can subscribe to.  Residents of Newberry County can now receive updates about breaking news, weather advisories, and community news.  The Sheriff’s Office will begin using the Nixle immediately and on September 15 will stop the current email update notification system.  At that time, citizens, day cares, school personnel, government officials, and others would receive updates only through Nixle.

For the rest of the story, see the Whitmire News.
