By Theron Willis
HOMETOWN NEWS

Make plans this weekend for the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, which will feature new cycling and running events as well as a wide variety of great storytelling from Native American flutes to puppetry and everything in between.
There will be two cycling events available. One is the Jimmie’s Creek Cycling Challenge, which will be 62.6 miles long beginning and ending at the Timrod Library with a rest stop at Walnut Grove Plantation. The other is the Jimmie’s Creek Cycling Cup, which is 21.5 miles beginning and ending at the Timrod as well.
The Kate Barry, She’s Revolutionary 5K Run also begins and ends at the Timrod Library with the route going down West Hayne to Flower St just past the Presbyterian Cemetery turning right onto West Georgia St back across Main onto East Georgia and then down East Georgia onto Edgewood Circle to go back down to East Hayne to end at the library.
All three events are on Saturday, April 30 with sign-in at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $10 and will be available on-site up to the day of the event.
