Mayor Stands Firm on Prayer at City Council

A second municipal judge was appointed to serve on an as - needed basis and the final reading for fiscal year 2010-2011 was approved at the June 28 city council meeting, but another important issue to many concerned citizens was addressed before the official business got underway.
Before leading the prayer at the council meeting Mayor Burnett addressed the audience to establish his and the city’s stance towards the issue of public prayer at the start of the city’s council meeting.
“As long as I’m here and the people on this council are here we’re going to open in prayer,” Burnett said to responses of affirmation from those seated in the audience and from those on the council.
