WHS alumna raises money for cancer research

Jana Malsam Morse wheeled her “antique” Cannondale bicycle out of the shed, clearing away the cobwebs and pumping up the tires.
The road bike was in rough condition. Morse had not really used it since 1991 when the 1985 Cannondale was her primary means of transportation as a med school student.
But this time, the 1984 Woodruff High School alumna would use the bike for a totally different purpose: to raise money for cancer research. Morse rode in the Palmetto Peloton Stars and Stripes Challenge Ride on May 29, and she is preparing to participate in a Challenge to Conquer Cancer ride from Greenville to Austin, Texas, in October.
“After what we went through last year, I needed a good fight,” said Morse, an internal medicine doctor with New Horizon Family Health Services. “I immediately signed up for the 106-mile Stars and Stripes and pulled my antique Cannondale out of the shed.”
