Residents can earn money for their local nonprofit of choice

By Brandon L. Leonard
HOMETOWN NEWS

Supporters of local nonprofit organizations have the opportunity to earn money for them at the upcoming Woodruff Glory Days Festival, an event spokesperson said on July 12.
The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Committee is looking for residents to man the ticket booths for rides at the upcoming festival and is offering volunteers the chance to earn $50 per hour for their time, said Liz Marcellino, committee chairperson.
“Times are hard. What a better way to donate to a group than give two hours of your time?” Marcellino said.
People can sign up for two-hour blocks and earn at least $100 for local nonprofit organizations, such as churches, the Woodruff Area Soup Kitchen, Woodruff Community Center and others, Marcellino said. To qualify, the nonprofit must have proof of its status as a tax-exempt charity organization.
The ticket booth will be air-conditioned again this year, Marcellino added.
