In the brief amount of time since he started working for the City of Woodruff in February 2009, Stephen Steese feels like he has experienced what being from Woodruff is all about.
“My family and I have gotten to experience a whole lot of Woodruff in a small amount of time,” Steese said as he sipped his coffee at the Turtle Parfait on September 22. “I’ve enjoyed my time here. I’ve enjoyed the people I’ve met. I’m thankful for the people on City Council who gave me the opportunity.
“Even though I’m leaving, I’ll never forget Woodruff. It’s a good community.”
A native of Florence, Steese graduated from Clemson University in 2010 with a master’s degree in public administration after finishing a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2000.
“This [working as a city manager] is what I wanted to do when I graduated college,” Steese said. “It’s very difficult to go from school into management. But the city gave me the opportunity.”
