After surviving a big scare from the Newberry Bulldogs in the second round of the 2A play-offs last Friday, the undefeated Woodruff Wolverines advanced with a white-knuckle 41-36 victory.
The Wolverines (11-0) will now host Cheraw for the right to play for the upper-state championship. The Braves (7-4) were 45-7 winners over Gilbert in the second round.
Cheraw comes into this game on a high note after their victory over Gilbert. The Braves fell to the Wolverines in the second round of the play-offs a year ago, but are a much improved squad this season.
Led by Shrine Bowl running back and 1,000 yard rusher Marvin Lauderdale, the Braves base their offense out of the Wishbone with some Power-I and spread formations used as well to keep opposing defenses honest. Complementing Lauderdale in the backfield is junior Justin Chapman.
